Description
Dani Tom Thumb Bit with Blue Sweet Iron & Brass Lozenge – a meticulously designed bit to enhance your horse’s comfort and responsiveness.
The 2.5 ring design offers versatility and control, making it ideal for horses that are strong but also sensitive. The lower ring provides a leverage effect, which can be useful in situations where the horse may become strong or resistant. Also called a continental bit, it raises the bit like a gag but less severely. You can attach the reins to either the snaffle ring or the lower ring for increased poll pressure and leverage. Using two reins or roundings attached to a single rein allows for maintaining correct contact on the snaffle ring without poll pressure when necessary. Softer than a three-ring Dutch gag, it suits riders needing control in jumping or fast work without excessive poll pressure.
The sweet iron material used in this bit is known for its unique properties that benefit the horse’s mouth. Sweet iron oxidizes easily, creating a warming sensation and a sweet taste in the horse’s mouth, which can help them accept the bit more readily. Over time, the blue color of the sweet iron will fade, developing a rust-colored patina. This natural process is normal and does not affect the performance of the bit. Be sure to thoroughly dry the bits after riding!
The three-part design ensures a gentle and steady connection with your horse’s mouth, with the central lozenge reducing the nutcracker effect of a single-jointed bit whilst also distributing pressure evenly over the tongue and bars of the mouth. The brass alloy material, a blend of copper and a harder metal, promotes salivation and is durable for long-lasting use.
